Something for Mothers: Now That You Are A Mother

The path to becoming a mother can be different for everyone. Maybe, as a mother, you cried out to God many times for years until you finally felt that He heard your plea when He blessed you with a child. Perhaps you decided to seek medical intervention after several attempts and felt elated when you received the news that you would soon welcome your baby.

In other instances, it was probably after carefully planning and preparing you and your spouse or partner decided it was time to try for a second or even third child or years may have passed when you finally made up your mind to adopt or foster a child. If you are like many people, most likely you got pregnant just like that. On the other hand, it was probably your mantra never to have children yet and you find yourself pregnant and shopping for your baby. Whatever the circumstances that led you to motherhood just know that you have a special blessing on your hands and a sacred responsibility in caring for your child/children.

Pray for your children

Now that you are a mother, you will need divine guidance to help you in every day decision-making. Always remember to pray with and for your child or children and trust and believe in the wisdom of God to work through your abilities. Of course this is easier to say than carrying it out because we usually trust in ourselves instead of depending on God. Knowing that someone larger than life is interested in your success as a mother will bring peace and unexplainable joy as you raise your child.

Advocate for your children

Now that you are a mother, you are your child’s best advocate. Although many persons will genuinely care about the wellbeing of your child, no one will be able to replace your level of advocacy and foresight in helping your children when they need it most. For instance, you will need to ensure that your child is in good health whether nutritionally or psychologically. If there are any serious changes you will be the first to see and must do all that you can for the best possible outcome and overall for a good childhood experience. Listening to your child or children will also play a key role in advocating for them.

Allocate time and resources to your children

Now that you have entered motherhood, you must allocate the time and other resources to foster a healthy relationship and worthwhile investments in your child’s life. Motherhood demands selfless acts of commitment and love. In this day and age countless things and circumstances lie in wait to steal time and resources from you. Raising children requires quality time and attention to details. Yes, it is your time and resources that mainly must be spent and not someone else’s. You will find yourself giving and making sacrifices that you once thought impossible. Spending time to play with your children and creating many opportunities for play is crucial to your child’s development.

Now that I am a mother, I raise my hands in thanks to God for my mother, my sisters and the many mothers who have prayed, advocated and spent countless hours pouring into their children’s lives so that today they can stand tall despite numerous challenges they had to overcome.

Happy Mother’s Day!

First off I would like to say superb blog! I had a quick question which I’d like to ask if you don’t mind. I was curious to know
how you center yourself and clear your mind before writing. I have had a tough time clearing my mind in getting my ideas out there. I do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally wasted simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or tips? Cheers!

Having a set place to write as well as a set ritual can be very helpful. A ritual could be setting a specific time of the day to write. Additionally, a clear and well organized environment is also very helpful.
