The characteristics of love are priceless and fundamental to relationship satisfaction. Love is encapsulating with immeasurable joy, yet it is undeniably sacrificial! There is so much excitement that surrounds the experience of love.
Characteristics of love
The are 12 most important characteristics of love (Fehr, 2006). The first four are acceptance, caring, commitment, and concern for the other’s well-being. Friendship, honesty, interest in the other, and loyalty are the second four. The remaining four are respect, supportiveness, trust, and wanting to be with the other. Patience, faithfulness, and self-control are characteristics that we generally ignore and trivialize.
Love is priceless
Love is Priceless!!!! Solomon writes “Many waters cannot quench love, nor can rivers drown it. If a person tried to buy love with all his [her] wealth, his [her] offer would be utterly scorned” (Songs Solomon 8:7). Trying to buy, steal, and force love are impossible transactions because love is a gift!
Love as the foundation
Relationships that have love at the center will always go through testing and generally will survive over time. When we find love, it is imperative that we embrace love to the fullest. Anything less than 100% is not love. Love is a composite of priceless parts, making the whole priceless. Sometimes it takes extraordinary strength to go through the test of love. The attributes of love are often challenging to our core. Love is four dimensional principle, Spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical.
We are unable to buy or sell love. We can only receive or give it. Is your relationship built on the principle of love? We hope the answer is in the affirmative.
